Direcciones desde Franklin:
Dirigirse al sur por US-23 S/US 441 S en dirección a Clayton/Atlanta

To experience an amazing 360-degree view, join us for the Rabun Bald hike. Guided by Brent Martin, the Director of the Blue Ridge Bartram Trail Conservancy, and Gillian Watson, an AmeriCorps Vista member. We will meet up at Beegum Gap at noon to commence the hike, which spans approximately 3.4 miles in total. Rabun Gap has an elevation of 4,696, with a fire tower located at the top. From there, you can see parts of North Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. The trail is more elevated and a bit challenging, but it will be an adventure, and the view from the top will be worth it!

Join us in this event that will open opportunities for everyone in Macon County and the surrounding area to be able to experience the wonders that the Bartram Trail holds. Our goal is to enhance trail accessibility and enjoyment for everyone, and this hike marks a small yet significant step toward achieving that.

February 9, 2023 Walking With Bartram – Section 4 (2): Wilson Gap to Hale Ridge Road

UPDATED 2/6: This hike is now full, RSVPs closed.

This is a second opportunity to joins us for Section 4 of the Walking With Bartram hiking series. In an effort to make these hikes more enjoyable and accessible to everyone that is interested, we’re offering a second date to join us. We’ll try to limit these hikes to 10 folks to allow everyone better interactions and make shuttling between trailheads a little easier.

If you’ve already signed up for the January 27th Walking with Bartram, you can change your RSVP to this one, just let us know if you do. You can email us directly at info@blueridgebartram.org.

Join us for section 4 in North Georgia from Wilson Gap to Hale Ridge Road, right at the North Carolina border. This is the final section in North Georgia before heading into the Nantahala National Forest in North Carolina. This section is 9.2 miles in length and we’ll start climbing a little more to enjoy the views Rabun Bald.

We’ll meet at 9:00 am at the Hale Ridge Road trailhead to organize our shuttle cars to the start point. Both trailheads are a little tight with rougher roads leading to them. But, we did alright with shuttling cars to Wilson Gap in December, so we’ll be ok. If you do have a higher-clearance vehicle and can car-pool, that would be very helpful.

January 27, 2023 Walking With Bartram – Section 4: Wilson Gap to Hale Ridge Road

1/11/2023 UPDATE: RSVP for this hike is closed. We are currently looking into offering an additional hike to accommodate interest in these.

Joins us for section 4 in North Georgia from Wilson Gap to Hale Ridge Road, right at the North Carolina border. This is the final section in North Georgia before heading into the Nantahala National Forest in North Carolina. This section is 9.2 miles in length and we’ll start climbing a little more to enjoy the views Rabun Bald.

More details to follow closer to this date once we have all our RSVPs in.

December 30th Walking With Bartram – Section 3: Warwoman Dell to Wilson Gap

***RSVP for this hike is closed as of 12/20. We’ve had great interest in these hikes, which is wonderful! But, logistics and planning for this can only support so many folks. We are working on how we can expand these hiking opportunities.

One more time to get out of the house and add a great hike to your holiday routine before the end of 2022!

Join us for section 3 of our Walking With Bartram hike series on December 30th, 2022. This month we are continuing from Warwoman Dell on to Wilson Gap. This section is roughly 8.5 miles with some respectable elevation changes. Depending on the weather, we may decide to approach this in reverse direction, from Wilson Gap to Warwoman Dell. Either way, we all win with winter views of Rabun Bald and other vistas that the bare trees afford us.

We will meet up at 9am at Waroman Dell (or Wilson Gap, final details will be announced closer to this hike date) to organize shuttles to the other trailhead and get started. We should wrap up by 4-5pm.

All Walking With Bartram hikes are open to anyone with a sense of humor and wonder. Just plan on bringing a lunch, water, and appropriate weather for the season. Hiking poles are not required, but you may appreciate them on the climbs and descents, especially following any snowfalls.
