We have rescheduled our last Walking with Bartram hike to this Monday, April 22. We will be meeting at Warwoman Dell at 9am and shuttling to Sandy Ford.
We hope you’ll come join us this time! We had to reschedule because of the USFS prescribed burns that we encountered last time.

Join us for the Annual Bartram Membership Event and the 50th anniversary of the Chattooga River Wild and Scenic designation!
On May 10, 1974, The Chattooga River was officially designated as a wild and scenic river and nationally recognized as the fist river east of the Mississippi River to be granted this protection. This event will combine a celebration of this anniversary with the renewal of the Annual Bartram Membership events!
We are going to meet at Warwoman Dell at 10am to do some trail work, clean up, and generally have a great time in the woods. We’ll rendezvous back at the parking/picnic area at 4pm to hear from local legends John Lane and Doug Woodward- two people that have contributed considerably to the understanding and protection of the river. There will also be pizza, beer, and snacks to enjoy throughout the evening.
Come on out for a great time connecting with other Bartram Trail members and enthusiasts, and to celebrate 50 years of protection for the mighty Chattooga River!

Join Michelle Stephens for a Spring hike along the Chattooga River Trail to the junction of the Foothills Trail.
This is a moderate 10 mile in and out hike along the Chattooga River in the Sumter National Forest.
We will begin at the Russell Bridge parking lot at 9am and hike to Liglog and Pigpen Falls where it joins the Foothills Trail. There are several stream crossings and a total elevation gain of approximately 800’.
Hike limit is 14 people.
Since this part of the trail is part of the SC Bartram Trail, the Forest Service has recently agreed for the BTC to maintain it. Stay tuned for more information!

Spring wildflowers, a wildlife meadow, and views are highlights of this moderate forest hike of 4.6 miles round trip. A steep but short spur trail up Whiterock Mountain offers some especially stunning views of Tessentee Valley and the Nantahala mountains.
The overall elevation gain is modest with a few steep, rocky sections both on the way to Whiterock Mountain and back to Jones Gap.
Since this is a popular hiking spot, we’ll limit the number of people to 10. Karen Wallace and Jill Osborne will be leading this one!
We’re meeting at Macon Plaza (Food Lion), 155 Macon Plaza Dr., Franklin, NC 28734 at 10:30am. We’ll carpool from there to the trailhead which includes a few miles on gravel roads.
