Our Mission

To recognize and honor William Bartram’s journey, Travels of William Bartram inspired the creation of a 110-mile trail. It is maintained to follow his path through Georgia and North Carolina, encouraging people today and in the future to explore the region’s natural beauty and Cherokee heritage.

Honoring William Bartram, an 18th-century naturalist who explored the American South from 1773 to 1777, the trail celebrates his legacy of discovery through the plants, animals, and cultures he so vividly documented in his journal, Travels of William Bartram.
