William Bartram’s Birthday Celebration and Franklinia Planting
April 20 @ 11:30 am - 3:00 pm

Join us for William Bartram’s birthday celebration and franklinia planting at plant whisperer Jack Johnston’s nursery in Otto, NC for this very special event.
Jack is a propagator extraordinaire of Franklinia, Mountain Camellias, and much, much more. Not only we will learn about the natural history of these species, but plant some in Bartram’s honor!
To make this all the more special, Heather Gladfelter, PhD, whose graduate and current research is on the genetics of Franklinia, and Brad Sanders, author of Guide to William Bartram’s Travels, will be there to lead conversation and discussion.
We meet at Otto, NC post office at 11:30 AM to caravan to Jack’s nearby nursery. Bring lunch, water, weather appropriate clothing, and sense of humor and wonder. We will wrap up between 2 and 3PM.
