The Bartram Trail Conservancy recently received funding from the Legacy Trails Grant to make improvements to the trail between Wallace Branch and Wayah Bald. As part of this, we will be building a small fence at the base of the Falls to mitigate erosion problems from people climbing up the banks.
We’re going to start with round locust logs and rive them using steel wedges to create the traditional “split rail” fence that is often still seen across rural America.
Come help us learn this traditional fence building skill and add a beautiful and functional element to the Bartram Trail.
Don’t forget to bring warm layers, work gloves, hearing protection, and a lunch!
We’ll meet at the Wallace Branch Trailhead at 9am.
