April 29, Walking with Bartram – Wayah Bald to Lake Nantahala

This spectacular seven mile hike begins at the summit of Wayah Bald and descends over seven miles to Lake Nantahala. Birding, botany, and incredible views are highlights. We’ll meet at the BT parking area where the BT comes out on Wayah Road by Lake Nantahala. Bring lunch, plenty of water, clothgin for the forecast and taking into consideration high elevation, any meds you might need, and a sense of humor and wonder. The google map link below is for Lake’s End restaurant, which is .5 miles PAST the trailhead. The trailhead is 21.3 miles after turning on to Wayah Road and there is a Bartram Trail sign and parking area that will let you know you’ve arrived.
