ARTISTS NEEDED – SPOTFIN art exhibit for Cowee School Arts and Heritage’s SPOTFIN: Art and Nature Gathering

Opening reception Friday, May 15th, 5-7 PM, at Cowee School Arts and Heritage Center

The Cowee School Arts and Heritage Center (CSAHC) is announcing a call to artists for their SPOTFIN: Art and Nature Gathering. The exhibit will be on display from May 11th to July 17th at CSAHC. The exhibit is inspired by the Spotfin Chub, a small and rare fish found only in the Little Tennessee River watershed that depends upon clean water and habitat. It is open to any genre that is inspired by a connection to nature and place.

Artists are invited to submit up to three works that can be loosely inspired by the title and theme of the exhibit and the gathering, which will include nature and art-based workshops, hikes, guest lecturers, and more.

The deadline for submissions is April 20th and artists will be notified by April 27th. All artwork should be delivered to CSAHC no later than May 1st. Submissions should be submitted in a Word document that includes an artist’s statement along with images and dimensions. Submissions should be sent to callforartists@coweeschool.org.

An opening reception for SPOTFIN will take place from 5-7pm on Friday, May 15, 2026 at the CSAHC. This will be accompanied by a series of outings and classes on May 15th and 16th as part of the Spotfin Nature & Art Gathering at Cowee School Arts & Heritage Center. The exhibit runs from May 11th – July 17th. Art purchases from the show can be made through the Cowee Mercantile (a percentage of proceeds goes to CSAHC).
