UPDATE: With all the recent rain (and the forecast calling for more), trail/river conditions are not looking good for our 4-legged friends tomorrow (10/8)! Soggy, slick trails + pulling dogs are not a good combination — and swollen rivers aren’t safe for pup swims either…. I am going to attempt a re-do on SUNDAY, November 7th! Mark your calendars, and please RSVP to Jill Osborne at jschukert@gmail.com if you can make it.
Barkin’ with Bartram is our first dog-friendly hike! This trip will be led by board member and dog whisperer, Jill Shuckert-Osborne. The hike will begin at Appletree Campground in north Macon County on the Bartram Trail and participants will hike approximately 4 miles round trip. The Bartram Trail parallels the Nantahala river on this section and dogs will have a chance to cool off and go for a swim. You’ll learn more about Bartram’s enlightened views on animal intelligence too!
