July 12th: Chattooga River to Foothills Trail

Join Michelle Stephens for a Summer hike along the Chattooga River Trail to the junction of the Foothills Trail.

This is a moderate 10 mile in and out hike along the Chattooga River in the Sumter National Forest.

We will begin at the Russell Bridge parking lot at 9am and hike to Liglog and Pigpen Falls where it joins the Foothills Trail. There are several stream crossings and a total elevation gain of approximately 800’.

Since this part of the trail is part of the SC Bartram Trail, the Forest Service has recently agreed for the Bartram Trail Conservancy to maintain it and become the southern extension of the Bartram Trail.
