DESCRIPTION:Join us at Jone’s Gap at 10am for a gentle stroll and photography. Bring your own camera and camaraderie as we enjoy the last of the summer and look for flora and fauna to capture. \nThe temperatures will still be warm\, so bring snacks\, water and sun protection. \nPlease be aware that google maps does not take you all the way to the Jone’s Gap trailhead. Jones Gap can be reached from Franklin via US 64 east towards Highlands. Turn right on Gold Mine Road. Follow Gold Mine to Dendy Orchard and turn left. Follow Dendy Orchard\, which turns to gravel. Continue up Dendy Orchard Road until it ends for a magnificent view and many photo opportunities. \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Nature Journaling: Spotfin Art & Nature Gathering
DESCRIPTION:As part of the Spotfin Art and Nature Gathering on September 26th\, the Blue Ridge Bartram Trail Conservancy will offer an excursion to the Bartram Trail. Find the main event page at: https://www.coweeschool.org/spotfin \nWhen: September 25\, 2026 from 10am – 2pm \nWhere: The Bartram Trail: Wallace Branch to William’s Pulpit. This walk will be at a slow pace\, where we’ll be spending more time communing than hiking.  \nMeet first for a reception at the Cowee Arts and Heritage Center at 9am\, and then carpool to Wallace Branch. We will leave no later than 9:40am.  \nWhat: Sydney Kale is a phenomenologist\, writer\, and artist who works with plants. In this workshop\, we will explore different ways of communing with plants and responding through creation. The workshop will involve somatic walks\, writing practices\, and nature journaling. Materials will be supplied. \nPlease wear appropriate clothing and bring plenty of water\, food\, and anything else you may need.
