DESCRIPTION:A family-friendly mushroom exploration with the Bartram Trail Conservancy\nJoin Bartram Trail Conservancy on Saturday\, August 15th for a fun\, hands-on event celebrating the fascinating world of mushrooms and fungi in the Southern Appalachians. \nWarm\, wet summer conditions make this the perfect time of year to discover the incredible diversity of fungi growing in our forests. Together\, we’ll learn about the important ecological roles mushrooms play\,  from breaking down fallen leaves and logs\, to helping plants access nutrients\, to supporting healthy forest ecosystems beneath our feet. \nThis all-ages event will include: \nMushroom ecology\nLearn how fungi help forests thrive\, recycle nutrients\, build soil\, and connect with trees through underground mycelium networks. \nBasic mushroom identification\nExplore beginner-friendly features like caps\, gills\, pores\, stems\, color\, habitat\, and growth patterns. This will be a fun introduction to observation skills\, not a foraging or edible mushroom workshop. \nSpore print art\nCreate your own beautiful spore print artwork and learn how spores help mushrooms reproduce and spread across the landscape. \nWhether you’re a curious kid\, a nature-loving adult\, an artist\, a hiker\, or simply mushroom-curious\, this event is a welcoming way to slow down\, look closely\, and appreciate one of the forest’s most overlooked wonders. \nDate: Saturday\, August 15th \nLocation: Wallace Branch \nTime: 9am \nCost: minimum suggested donation $10 \nWhat to bring: Curiosity\, water\, comfortable outdoor clothing\, and a sense of wonder. \nPlease note: This event is educational and artistic. We will not be identifying mushrooms for consumption\, and participants should never eat wild mushrooms unless they have been positively identified by a qualified expert.
